Background

A Fortune 500 corporation launched an IT Security improvement initiative for its worldwide locations and Web presence. The plan called for spending millions of dollars to purchase and install security equipment around the world, and to assess the ability of the equipment to qualify for ISO27001 certification.

While the company’s security management was robust, the goal was to further improve security management and increase customer confidence in its popular high volume transaction systems. The global initiative would require considerable resources, vendor management and program management.

Challenges

The company soon realized the initiative was far larger than expected. The enterprise lacked the appropriate resources to execute the complex program around the globe. Executives recognized they would need help to manage implementations, interact with large consulting organizations, and develop structured programs to complete the projects on time. As a highly visible initiative directly related to the company’s business vision, it was clear the corporation needed external help.

We represented the client in working with Big 4 consulting companies and actively assisted with evaluation of ISO 27001 preparedness.

Juggling myriad time zones and countries around the globe, Blue River actively contributed to the worldwide program and project management that represented fully one-half of the initiative budget. Our consultants managed everything from country-specific labor requirements to procurement of security products from some of the largest suppliers in the world.

We were proud to play a significant role in meeting the client’s targets effectively and on time. ISO 270001 assessment was completed and we were able to provide best practices knowledge as well. The result was a satisfied and happy customer.
